stickywhitesock posted his write-up of the fifth session today! Have an XP! Here it is for the whole world to see ;-)
With the last member of the SGAA in the dreaming, the fifth session began. The group entered a room that looked like their club room in the Autumn realm, albeit slightly more silvery and ethereal. A black cat was curled up in the middle of the floor and looked to be waiting for someone.
After some discussion and the realization that it was stood up, the cat decided to follow the group on their quest. Juan nicknamed the new-found friendly feline Cosmic leper or something. The cat did not object.
As they continued out of the room, the SGAA encountered a choice of left or right. Memphis and Juan decided on the right course, since left was chosen first on a previous adventure.
While they walked down the hall, the group realized their chosen direction lead to the library. Memphis felt as he was being watched and after a quick door opening, an imp was revealed. After Memphis tried intimidating it into friendship, the imp realized the SGAA was the group Nix mentioned, and so bunches of imps crawled out of the wood-work and attacked en masse.
The group fought all out against the imps. Mindy shielded herself as she slowed imps down and used her ninja fairy. Juan “Ico Icoed” imps to follow his lead and fight at his side. Sam was swift and deadly with her rapier. Rook was startled that the first wave of imps gleefully impaled themselves on his sword. Memphis used quicksilver to help the group. Raz invented a imp grinder to make swift work of the tiny threat. And Lord Darkshire bravely hid and ensnared some imps.
At the battle‘s end, Juan got his imp followers to congo line cheerfully into the grinder. Raz then compacted the imp dust into one bar of solid imptronium. Also Juan offered Cosmic some imp as food, but the cat flatly refused.
After the imp encounter, the group made its way into the library. Inside, books were arranged in Aztec temple looking houses for the imps. An elder’s area was noticeable, so the group made their way to him. After letting him know they sought to help Miss Gertrude, Sam asked if they had a book of her story. The imp pulled out an extremely long file drawer and pulled out a solid black file card that should have been Gertrude’s story location. Raz put tongs against the darkness and it disintegrated the parts that were pushed into the card.
The Elder refused to let them have the card, but decided to go copy the card for them. After a scream, the group saw that the card had eaten the elder and the copy machine. While the other imps were confused the group left the library, and Mindy locked the door with a chair. Juan then decided knowledge could be found in the theater.
At the theater, the group saw a play was currently showing. The audience members were not specific people, but there with the purpose of filling seats to watch the play. Most of the performers wore masks. The only actor that looked normal was Anastasia.
In order to interact with Anastasia, Juan snuck on stage and entered at a climatic moment. He gave a epic monologue and directed his lines to the drama queen. She froze like a deer in headlights, then ran off crying. Lord Darkshire went to her aid and discovered that the group had walked in on a dream, and Juan had upstaged her senior performance.
With quick thinking the group worked to fix it. The audience, prodded by the group, started chanting for Anastasia as a hook from Sam and Rook pulled the usurper off stage. Anastasia went back on stage and delivered her best performance. Lord Darkshire was prodded by Juan to take her flowers. The Lord gave his love the flowers and bent her over for a passionate kiss. Then Anastasia cried about it being the best play ever as she was saddened her alarm clock was going off.
During Anastasia’s dream, Raz and Flutterfeet discussed Dreaming metaphysics in regards to Miss Gertrude and the meaning of the black card. Much of it was theoretical, but it was generally assumed her connection with the Dreaming was definitely severed.
After the play, Juan decided to try using the stage to find an answer. Memphis mocked him. Juan tried to invoke the Dreaming to provide an answer, but he was pulled off stage again. He then briefly talked with Cosmic, where he got the idea that a convenient store might have the answer, since Cosmic pointed out that the Dreaming loved its metaphors. Memphis found that his car had a dreaming counterpart, so everyone piled in to head to the market.
At the store, Juan went to the map section to find an appropriate map for their quest, but the only one related was a map black as the index card. He then filled up a cooler with food, and everyone low on glamour decided to raid the food-stores of the market as well. Juan bought a lollypop for Mindy as a token of apology and cat food for Cosmic.
After everyone was done with the store, Juan bet Sam she could not find where the black map leads. This caused Sam to try to guide the group. Everyone crammed into the ride and Memphis followed Sam’s direction. This ended with Memphis launching airborne and ramming into the 5th floor of the hospital, where Gertrude happen to be in the Autumn Realm equivalent. Inside her room where her bed should have been was a blackness like the card and map.
Sam tried various uses of soothsay to experiment with the darkness. Raz tried talking to the card. Rook went up onto the roof to get a better view of the town. Juan tried putting the card into the darkness, which it cam back out intact. On his second attempt, with willow wisp, and being smacked in the head by Sam, Raz managed to succeed in using his cantrip on the black index card. The card absorbed the glamour and disappeared. At a seeming dead end, Rook came back down from the roof and revealed that he saw that his family’s bar was full of activity.
Everyone got back in the car, and Memphis drove out of the hospital, aiming to land it in a cool way. The car started to fall uncontrollably, and Rook failed at hopscotching the car to safety. Raz pressed the emergency eject button. Everyone ejected to safety. Instead of a cool landing, the car hit the ground in an awesome Michael Bay explosive way. Memphis cried as he went to carjack a Cadillac. To apologize for thinking the explosion was awesome, Juan offered to buy Memphis his first three rounds at the bar.
The bar was full of patrons. A teddy bear sat at a table with a raggedy Ann doll, hitting on it. A beautiful woman was at the bar being ignored by the men in the bar. And a strange Eshu was in the corner.
The Eshu attracted Sam’s attention and she made her way over there. His voice and presence seem to excite Sam in an NC-17 kind of way. Raz felt something was odd with the Eshu, and Rook didn’t like the man already, so both went over there to introduce themselves. The eshu shook Raz’s hand firmly. Rook shook the eshu’s hand much firmer. After introductions and what Rook considered the Eshu’s bullshit, Raz offered the Eshu a drink and went to the bar.
Meanwhile, Memphis and Juan made their way to the lonely girl at the bar. There they discovered that she was actually a conservative Christian’s teen’s old wet dream and was depressed that she wasn’t “fully functional.” Juan strived to make her feel better and make her a pet project. Memphis decided to leave them too alone and met with Raz as he went for some wine for the Eshu. After a brief exchange, Raz put some imp dust into the wine bottle and both he and Raz went to the Eshu.
Seeing the tension, and the fact that someone was honing in on his love racket, Juan brought Chastity over to see the Eshu. Rook was getting more pissed off at the Eshu and Sam was getting more enthralled. Raz handed the Eshu a glass of wine with the imp dust, and he ended up calling Sam by his name. Then Juan began a dueling banjos like contest against the Eshu with his aphrodisia art to counter whatever the Eshu was using.
After a few moments Sam briefly noticed the Eshu had called her by his name. Then Raz managed to see and capture whatever the Eshu was using and Juan’s aphrodisia was directed to get Sam to follow her heart. Just before Rook was about to question Raz about the spell he caught, Sam confessed her love and manhandled the troll. They ended going upstairs to make out and summarily forgot about the Eshu. As the Eshu was still in shock, Juan tapped him with his stick and made him fall asleep. Then the rest of the SGAA went outside the bar to find out what was going on with him.
It turns out it was a thing that ate Changelings. The group discovered the eaten Eshu’s possessions on him, as well as a human heart with one of Sam’s medals sticking out. Only needing to know it ate changelings, Memphis used his solution of running over its head with a car, this caused further scarring Mindy’s mind with the pieces of brain that ensued and coming closer to Memphis and Juan‘s apparent project of turning her into a Fomorian. After Juan manhandled the heart for some reason and to grab the medal, Raz asked if Mindy could discretely give the medal back to Sam without her knowing and causing a panic.
After the aphrodisia finally wore off, Rook and Sam went back downstairs, intercepting Juan coming of the bathroom from washing his hands of heart goo. Everyone again piled into the Cadillac, including Juan’s new follower Chastity. They headed back to the convenient store to try to find anything else that might be useful. At the store, Memphis found his asterion in his pocket, and decided to see if it could help guide them. He pumped four points of glamour into it and immediately he knew where they needed to go. As they got closer to the location, Rook realized they were heading for his grandfather’s house.
At Gramps house, Rook immediately forgot about Memphis and went over to Gramp’s bike to admire it. The rest of the group went inside. After noticing the various WW2 memorabilia, Memphis was drawn to a picture over the fireplace. In it were 2 Sidhe, 1 troll, 1 Eshu, 1 Nocker, and Flutterfeet. One of the Sidhe also bared a striking resemblance to John Smith. When Rook was asked to come take a look, he mentioned that they were army buddies of his Gramps, but that he didn’t talk about them much. When pressed, Flutterfeet told the group he could not say anything and generally had an awkward disposition. Raz went back to the market to get a chimerical disposable camera to take a picture of it. Then Memphis felt the need to go to another place, so the group piled into the car and drove out of town.
Eventually, the group ended up in a deep forest. Two kids surprised the entourage and jumped out in front of the car, with bows and arrows, but Memphis managed to stop the car. Juan jumped out and broke one of their bows with his stick, which caused them to cry.
Mindy began to console the kids as she played hide n seek. Raz fixed the bow.
The kids eventually wanted to take everyone back to their village for a feast, since it has been a long time since there was one. Thinking Village of the Lost in combination with feast probably meant the SGAA would be the main course, Raz adamantly refused to go despite the sadness it caused Mindy. So the group continued forward on to where Memphis felt they should go, leaving the crying kiddies behind.
The group then came across a large river, that Memphis’s destiny sense told him needed to be crossed. So to make a raft, Raz needed wood. Rook effortlessly cut down a few trees. Juan decided to try summoning something random to help.
A large tree chimera thing came and threw a log at Juan. Rook tried to parry, but both were hit. After the tree was pissy about throwing the group across the river not worthy of its skill, Rook insulted the tree by saying it threw like a pine tree. It threw another tree at Rook, and who was summarily silenced. Sam lectured him later.
But thinking of a worthy goal, Juan asked the tree to find the most perfect flower in the forest. As the raft with tiki bar neared completion, the tree brought back said flower and left. Raz stored it in a Ziploc jar of some kind. During this Mindy kept poking at Juan’s wounds.
The first half of the river was calm, then a cannonball shot straight out of the water missing the boat. The SGAA had come across some merfolk pirates. The group tried to outrun the ship. As the pirates closed in, Rook used hopscotch on the merfolk vessel and stranded the boat on shore.
Juan negotiated parlay with the captain, ending up getting the captain’s eye patch for Mindy, medical supplies, and their most valuable treasure. While the captain fetched the last two, his mermaid consort fetched Memphis for an unofficial fourth “item”.
The captain brought back maps for the treasure and medical supplies, which were buried underwater. Raz made glass out of the sand shore and ended up with two submersible devices. Raz, Mindy and Rook retrieved the treasure, which was a illusion revealing mirror. The mermaid, Memphis and Juan retrieved the supplies.
When seeing what the mirror does, Raz revealed that Cosmic as the female Sidhe from Rook’s Grandfather’s picture. She admitted it, but the issue wasn’t pressed too much by the group.
After everything was settled, Rook hopscotched the ship back into the water and the SGAA went on their way, with another party member in the form of the now leggy mermaid.
As the group entered the deep dreaming, they came across a House Scathach secret citadel. Everything and everyone was petrified stone. As they walked in, the signs of battle were frozen in rock form. Raz willow wisped one of the soldiers, with only the words “Wheelers” being sounded back. Cosmic and Flutterfeet thought this was bad.
As they entered the main building, they encountered three oracles also of stone. Raz detected that a very powerful cantrip was holding the stone effect in place. While Rook was going outside for an aerial view, he spotted Wheelers coming towards the group and yelled a warning. The session ended with the SGAA preparing for battle against the wheeled menace.
